Access Help
Due to confidentiality of some information contained within the Perspectives Access system, access is restricted to authorized users only.
Topics covered on this help page:
If you have an authorized account, to login you must provide proof of your identity.
To do this, you must enter your personal email address and password.
If both entries matches what is on record for your account, you will be granted access.
Forgotten Password
If you have an authorized account but have forgotten your password, you may enter only your email address and click the "Email Me" button.
If the email address matches an address associated with an authorized account, a message will be immediately sent to that address with a temporary code that can be used to gain access.
Immediately check your email and use the coded link in the message to access your account.
Once you have successfully accessed your account, you may change your password to something you will remember.
The temporary code is only valid one time within the next 6 hours.
After you use it once or when 6 hours has passed, the code will automatically expire and become unusable.
This is done to protect your account in case your email is later seen by others.
If you don't use the temporary code immediately, you can request a new code again at a later time.
No Account
If you do not have an authorized account but feel you should, you may request an account online.
Simply enter a valid personal email address and click the "Request One" button.
You will then be asked to provide other personal information including your name and phone number.
These may be necessary to contact you to verify your identity and role within the Perspectives Movement.
You will also be asked to identify your primary role within the Perspectives Movement.
This is necessary both to determine who should review your account request and what permissions you will have if your account is approved.
If you serve multiple roles in the Perspectives Movement, you may request additional levels of permission after the account has been activated.
Here are some of the roles for which access may be granted.
As additional services are implemented within Perspectives Access, other roles may also allow access.
- Instructor - Presenter of curriculum lessons for classes
- Coordinator - Primary administrator of a local Perspectives Movement class
- PSP Staff - Staff of the U.S. Center for World Mission working under the authority of the Perspectives Study Program
- PCW Trainer - Perspectives Coordinators Workshop trainer for coordinator development
If your account request is approved, you will be notified by email to the address you specified with your request.
The message will contain a temporary access code which you may use to initially access your account.
The first time you successfully access Perspectives Access, you will need to set a permanent password that you will rememeber.
You may change your password at any time in the future.
Changed Email Address
If your email address has changed, you will need to login using your previous email address while it is still associated with your account.
However, once your login identify has been authenticated, you should immediately may use the "Account Mgmt" service to change the email address associated with your account.
The new email address must already be functional.
If your previous email address is no longer functional and you don't change the email address associated with your account, you will be unable to access your account if you forget your password.
Detailed instructions for changing your email address are available from the "Help" link within the Account Management service.
Cookies and Using Multiple Computers
Since all accounts are personal (not shared with other users), you may only access this system from one computer at a time.
If you login from a second computer, access from the first computer will be disabled. Logging back in on the first computer will immediately disable access from the second computer.
This is done by use of a web "cookie" associated with your account that is temporarily placed on your computer. It is removed either when you logout or close your browser application.
When you login using a second computer, the cookie associated with your account is updated, rendering the cookie stored on the first computer as unrecognized.
Your browser must be configured to accept cookies to use Perspectives Access.
Each online service uses the cookie to verify that the user is currently authorized to access that function. If cookies are not being accepted, an "unauthorized" message will be shown every time you try to access an online service.
